2015 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo – October 23, 2015

For the past 12 years, DFW Airport’s Aviation & Transportation Career Expo has provided students from Dallas/Fort Worth and the neighboring communities an opportunity to learn about careers, ask questions of industry experts and enjoy a hands-on experience in a variety of aviation and transportation fields – from piloting a major airline plane to managing a local or national rail line or driving an emergency response vehicle.

Numerous static aircraft, vehicles displays and information booths representing local, regional and national members of the aviation and transportation community were available to everyone attending this dynamic educational experience.

2014 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo – October 24, 2014

DFW Airport was excited to invite local and regional schools and exhibitors to DFW’s 2014 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo, held at American Airlines Hangar #2, including numerous static aircraft, vehicles displays and information booths representing local, regional and national members of the aviation and transportation community.

We also want to thank all our Exhibitors for making the Career Expo a success and introducing our community’s youth and educators to the multitude of career paths offered by the aviation and transportation industry, from piloting a major airline plane to managing a local or national rail line or driving an emergency response vehicle.

2013 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo – October 4, 2013

The 2013 event was held once again at the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum, and more than 3,100 North Texas students attended DFW’s 10th Anniversary Aviation & Transportation Career Expo – An Exciting Trip Through the Past, Present and Future.

This year we were lucky to have a number of Medal of Honor recipients attend and laud us with their life experiences, stories and wisdom. The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States, and everyone involved with DFW’s Career Expo appreciate their service to our country and willingness attend the 2013 event.

Live aircraft during the 2013 Expo were on display at the American Airlines Hangar #5, and attendees had the opportunity to view the aircraft displays at their leisure using shuttle buses, provided by Sky Ball. Attendees traveled to-and-from the C.R. Smith Museum and the American Airlines Hangar throughout the day, so they wouldn’t miss any of the festivities!

2012 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo – December 11-14, 2012

More than 1,200 North Texas students visited the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum, in Fort Worth, to attend the ninth annual Aviation & Transportation Career Expo. This year’s event was held over a four-day period allowing students the opportunity to to learn about potential careers in a variety of aviation and transportation fields. Students from Dallas, Fort Worth and the neighboring communities were taken on a flight through American Airlines history, with interactive exhibits that entice participation by all age groups.

The museum features hundreds of historical artifacts, photographs, full-scale aircraft engines and a rare Douglas DC-3 airliner. In addition, the museum’s state of the art digital theater features “The Spirit of American,” a film featuring the history of commercial aviation as well as breathtaking aerial photography.

Exhibitor displays featured interactive activities, flight simulators, media displays and expert speakers including former Dallas Cowboy Russell Maryland. Students saw the latest technology from Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Mountain View College, Tarrant County College, Texas Air National Guard, US Navy and more.

Planes, Trains & Automo “Thrills”

More than four thousand students turned out for the 2011 Aviation & Transportation Career Expo at DFW International Airport. The Expo, one of the largest educational events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, represents an opportunity for students to learn about potential careers in a variety of aviation and transportation fields. Most students in attendance came from the Dallas Independent School District and the Fort Worth Independent School District, but some came from as far away as Houston to take part in the eighth annual Expo.

“The Expo represents a tremendous opportunity for our airport and our transportation industry partners to show students some great career options they might not have considered,” said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW. “The hands-on exhibits here are really engaging for kids, and we are pleased to provide an opportunity for them to learn.”

Get Moving in the RIGHT Direction

More than 4,000 North Texas students attended the seventh annual Aviation & Transportation Career Expo at DFW International Airport inside one of American Airlines' maintenance hangars. The 2010 Expo gave students the opportunity to see the latest technology from over 70 exhibitors in the aviation and transportation fields.

The Expo’s main draw was information displays and hands-on activities including radio controlled aircraft, emergency vehicles, live aircraft, simulators, law enforcement vehicles, canine demos, physics demos and more.


The First Career Expo

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport hosts over 3,000 students in the first-ever Aviation & Transportation Career Expo


In an effort to provide hands-on educational opportunities to area students, DFW International Airport joined forces with the Federal Aviation Administration and American Airlines to host the first-ever Aviation & Transportation Career Expo.

The 2004 Expo was the first large scale event created to allow K-12 and college students in North Texas to receive an introduction to potential careers in aviation and transportation. More than 35 agencies, companies and organizations including the Texas Department of Transportation, General Motors and Lockheed Martin provided the displays of static aircraft and vehicles, and also informational materials to the more than 3,000 students in attendance.

Students also heard a presentation by aviation prodigy Jamail Larkins, the youngest air show performer in America and a spokesman for the EAA Young Eagles Program.
