This week’s highlighted aircraft is the Vultee BT-13 Valiant. An American World War II-era basic trainer aircraft for the US Army Air Corps and US Army Air Forces, the Valiant was used to train naval aviators for the US Navy, US Marine Corps and US Coast Guard.
This week’s highlighted aircraft is the Douglas Sky Raider. The Sky Raider was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. The piston-powered, propeller-driven Sky Raider had a remarkably long and successful career, even inspiring its straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt.
This week’s highlighted aircraft is the North American P-51 Mustang. An American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II, the Korean War and in several other conflicts, Mustang pilots claimed 4,950 enemy aircraft shot down during World War II, the most of any Allied fighter.
